The following is a transcript of Simon Wren-Lewis's lecture on the themes of his book The Lies We Were Told, hosted by PEF as part of its series of public lectures on macroeconomic issues. He began his career as an Economist in H.M.Treasury. In 1981 he moved to the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, where as a Senior Research Fellow he constructed the first versions of the world model NIGEM. From 1988-1990, as Head of Simon Wren-Lewis is a British economist. He is a professor of economic policy at the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University and a Fellow of Merton College. Education. Wren-Lewis was educated at Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith; Clare College, Cambridge (MA Economics); and Birkbeck College, London (MSc Economics).
