Jon Stewart is going from dealing with metaphorical "bullshit" to actual bullshit with the opening of a new animal sanctuary in Middletown, New Jersey. The former Daily Show host and his wife Jon and Tracey Stewart's dream of a sanctuary for abused animals, roadside orphans and factory-farm refugees found a friend this week. Farm Sanctuary, a stalwart for animal rights for decades, is partnering with the Stewarts to turn their 12-acre farm in Middletown, New Jersey, into a haven for downtrodden creatures. Jon Stewart and his wife Tracey have spent two years preparing their farm to be a home for mistreated animals. Jon and Tracey Stewart have been honored by the animal advocacy group Farm Sanctuary for turning their 12-acre farm into a sanctuary for neglected animals. So far at Bufflehead Farm they have at least 4 pigs, and 4 sheep on the way. Jon and his wife Tracey, who is an author and an animal advocate, have run Bufflehead Farm in new Jersey since 2013. They host a variety of animals in need of love; including dogs, rabbits, pigs, guinea pigs, fish and birds. One of the perks of living at the Stewarts' farm is that the animals receive daily hugs and belly rubs. The name bufflehead comes from a combination of two words: buffalo and head. It refers to the puffy bulbous head shape of the duck, like a buffalo. Males have a very bulbous head for such a small butterball body. The head shape is most noticeable when a male puffs out its feathers, the head resembles a wild looking black-and-white bonnet or a Less sociable than most ducks, seen in pairs or small groups, almost never in large flocks. Takes wing easily from the water, flies with rapid wingbeats. The name 'Bufflehead' is derived from 'buffalo-head,' for the male's odd puffy head shape.
