Haßfurt ( German pronunciation: [ˈhasˌfʊʁt] ⓘ; English: Hassfurt) is a town in Bavaria, Germany, capital of the Haßberge district. It is situated on the river Main, 20 km east of Schweinfurt and 30 km northwest of Bamberg. In 1852, Ludwig's Western Railway reached the town and between 1892 and 1995, which also had a branch line to Hofheim. Bertjan Pot isn't like most designers. As widely acclaimed for his high-end commercial products (his Random Light for Moooi is now a classic) as his colourful woven-rope masks, he clearly isn't afraid to toy with expectations and to push the limits of methods and materials. Whatever he's working on, though, he prefers to keep things simple, eschewing technologies such as 3D printing in I graduated in 1998 and started working as a freelance designer as a member of 'Monkey Boys', a studio I founded together with Daniel White, a friend from the Academy. Playing with materials and ideas, we designed our own collection of furniture and lighting. In 2003 we decided to go own separate ways. I then set up Studio Bertjan Pot and Dutch designer Bertjan Pot graduated from the Man and Identity department at Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. It was there that he discovered his passion for textiles. Graduation project: a knitted lamp.
