Our 2024 season opens from 4 May to 13 Oct. The sculpture park is always accessible, even outside regular opening hours and the season. "This museum is an inhabitable bridge". This is how architect Bjarke Ingels, founder of the international studio BIG, began presenting his latest visionary project: the Kistefos Museet, which opened its doors on September 18 in Norway, in Jevnaker, a small town about 80 km from Oslo. The new Kistefos Museum is located in the scenic Kistefos Sculpture Park established in late 90s - today home to works by internationally renowned contemporary artists including Anish Kapoor, Olafur Eliasson, Fernando Bottero and Elmgreen & Dragset. The museum site is situated by the river Randselva in Jevnaker, just an hour north of Oslo. A/S Kistefos Træsliberi was established by consul Anders Sveaas in 1889, a company that produced wood pulp at the site from 1889 to the mid-1950s.
