Artists, record labels, and music trends come and go, but an unseen backbone of the music industry since 1939 has closed - vinyl manufacturer Rainbo Los Angeles songwriter Warren Zevon references picking up a girl at the Rainbow in the last verse of his 1976 song "Poor Pitiful Me." The track "Rainbow Bar & Grill" from the Cheech & Chong album Let's Make a New Dope Deal takes places inside, and eccentric producer Kim Fowley formed the all-girl group The Runaways in the parking lot. After 80 years of manufacturing vinyl albums for legendary artists, Rainbo Records has closed.
