On a superficial level, it represents the Greek myth of Prometheus, who stole fire from the gods to give it to humanity, symbolizing enlightenment and progress. However, Scriabin took this myth beyond its classical interpretation and infused it with his personal vision. In his last symphonic poem, Prometheus — The Poem of Fire, Scriabin aims even higher. Here he expresses the evolution of the world from formless chaos, through the appearance of mankind, fertilized by the divine spark, towards spiritual liberation and ultimate transcendence. The unusually large orchestra and a wordless choir produces a Pridgen brought exuberance to her performance. By the 1910s, Scriabin's projects had become more and more grandiose, including his Prometheus: Poem of Fire — scored for a massive orchestra, piano, organ, wordless chorus and a primitive "color organ" designed to project various light designs onto a screen.
