Built in 1781, the old church of Inverbervie, or Bervie, is located on a prominent position in the town. The site rises above the surrounding area and overlooks the coast. Only the west gable remains standing with a fairly large graveyard surrounding the remains within a large boundary wall. Bervie School is the only school in Inverbervie and is the largest school on the coast between Stonehaven and Montrose. The school is non-denominational and its catchment area includes the surrounding rural community. The school was built in 1937 and was originally a secondary modern school. In 1969 it became a primary school. The gavel has come down for the final time at Bervie Auctions as the much-loved Aberdeenshire institution held its final sale. It was the northern terminus of the line, situated north of Gourdon station.
