OROVILLE — James and Edelyn Yhip can continue practicing medicine while on bail after being arrested on suspicion of murdering their son, the court ruled today. Butte County Superior Court Judge A Chico doctor and nurse accused of killing their 2-year-old adopted son must stand trial in connection with the boy's death, a Butte County judge has ruled. Superior Court Judge Barbara L Dr. James Peter Yhip, 46, and his wife Edelyn Yhip, 43, both work at Enloe Medical Center in Chico. Dr. Yhip has been a cardiologist and a part of the medical staff at Enloe since June 2006. According to Butte County sheriff's Sgt. Jason Hail, Edelyn Yhip called 9-1-1 at 6 p.m. on April 18 to report Benjamin was unresponsive in their Gardenbrook Drive house. The boy was eventually Dr. James Peter Yhip, 46, will face a murder charge and a count of felony child endangerment, according to a news release from Sgt. Jason Hail. Edelyn Magakat Yhip, 43, will be charged with the same -- along with one count of the abuse of a child younger than 8 years old causing death. Edelyn Yhip called 911 one day earlier from the couple Dr. Gary More, a colleague of Dr Yhip, said he would sell his $600,000 home to help post bail.
