Richard Shirky. 25 Jan 2024. The Allan Cunningham Monument, overlooking the Cunningham Highway at Cunningham's Gap, has been entered into the Queensland Heritage Register. The monument was erected in 1927 to commemorate the centenary of explorer Allan Cunningham's traversing the Great Dividing Range and documenting a pass through the mountains. Cunninghams Gap and Spicers Gap, Main Range National Park. A landscape of rugged mountains, spectacular lookouts, exhilarating walks, dappled forests and unique wildlife is waiting to be explored. Discover walks through lush tropical rainforest, fragrant eucalypts and colourful montane heath. Rock-hop across pristine mountain streams and pause The Box Forest track is in the Cunningham Gap section of Main Range National Park, about 120km south-west of Brisbane. The track starts at either the western end of The Crest or at the West Gap Creek picnic area. Getting to the Goomburra section.
