Born 8 August 1929 in Vienna, Josef Mikl was an Austrian painter and graphic artist who died in his home city on 29 March 2008. Mikl attended Die Graphische in Vienna from 1946-1948, before attending graduate school under Josef Dobrowsky at the Academy of Fine Arts, where he remained until 1955.
