This Unit Standard is intended for persons who work in the public sector. Persons credited with this unit standard demonstrate knowledge of the Batho Pele principles and apply them to their own roles in the service of the public. The qualifying learner is capable of: Explaining how the Batho Pele principles apply to their own work roles.Batho Pele is based on eight national principles referred to as the Batho Pele Principles. To make sure that these Principles are put swiftly into practice, I am asking every national and provincial department to undertake a number of actions. Firstly, I am asking them to identify the small but important improvements in their Batho Pele principles are all about putting people first. What is more, Batho Pele is rooted in the legislative frameworks. This was started as a mean or initiative meant to work on transforming the public service regardless of the level. It means "People First" and was launched in 1997. Batho Pele was birthed due to the fact that democratic the PSC assessments - and other research studies - the Batho Pele programme that emerged from the 1997 Batho Pele policy had indeed reached its maturity stage after 24 years of existence (1997-2021); and the programme's impact had fallen significantly. 1.9.
