Amesiodendron chinense is a moderately fast growing tree with a dense and hemispherical crown. This species belongs to the Sapindaceae or the rambutan family. In the wild, it is found sporadically in valleys of hill dipterocarp forests between 300 - 400 m a.s.l., in the northern half of Peninsular Malaysia, including Kedah, Perak, Selangor Propagate by stem cuttings or seeds. Genus epithet 'Amesiodendron' named after American botanist-orchidologist Oakes Ames (1874-1950), who was professor of economic botany at Havard University. Species epithet 'chinense' means 'Chinese', referring to its natural distribution in China. Others: Strong dense wood used in furniture-making. The flowers of Amesiodendron chinense (Merr.)
